About Rod Geoghegan ::
Rod Geoghegan is an accomplished marketer with over twenty years experience in advertising, digital, direct marketing, experiential marketing, market research and promotional marketing.
His specialism is marketing and business development, with a highly successful track record in planning, converting and maintaining new client relationships.
His passion is marketing and people and has been described as ‘a supreme professional and industry heavyweight’.
Biography ::
In 1985 he embarked on a seven year career as a market researcher. He developed an understanding of both qualitative (ad-hoc) and quantitative (panel) research techniques and worked with clients in the FMCG, retail, media and household sectors.
In 1994 he undertook the start-up of the UK subsidiary of a US based marketing services corporation, building a team working for global premium brands. The client portfolio he created spanned seventeen countries and he travelled extensively to Asia, US and across Europe managing these international client relationships.
In 2000 he became the first Business Development Director for zgc, going on to see the agency merge and relaunch as mustard.
In 2005 he identified the requirement for a greater understanding of digital marketing amongst agency and client personnel and founded Metropolis to address this. He scripted, created and wrote interactive learning seminars – which became the benchmark for digital learning – and worked with the worlds leading advertising networks, digital agencies, industry bodies, marketing agencies and public relations practitioners.
From 2007 – 2009 he took a sabbatical from Metropolis, taking the role of board director of a Plc network agency, the result of a one-month-old merger of three group companies with responsibility across marketing, PR and business development – building the agency proposition, reputation (on and offline), branding, profile and client list. The result was a nomination for Marketing Sales Promotion Agency of the Year 2008.
He identified the touchpoints agencies are required to cover including the relationshipbetween marketing agencies and procurement.
He also raised industry issues where there was justification and necessity especially in relation to new EU legislation.
He is working with agency clients within major UK networks, with the work spanning a broad range of management, group and shareholder requirements. Each agency is at a differing stage of business maturity, though share one common theme: all are recognised as experts by the brands they deliver for. Their work is in the digital, advertising, DM, promotional marketing, experiential, sponsorship and brand marketing space. He is supporting their management and leadership teams through planning, training and mentoring - delivering bespoke new business management consultancy through to corporate consultancy.
